Typing Test

Typing Test measures your words per minute over sixty seconds using a randomly generated passage of common English words. Correct characters turn white, mistakes turn red, and the current character is highlighted.

WPM is calculated the standard way: five correct characters count as one word, divided by the elapsed time. Accuracy is tracked separately, because fast typing with constant corrections is slower than steady, clean typing.

Backspace is enabled, so you can fix mistakes — but every correction costs time. The best score is stored locally.

How to play Typing Test

• Click the passage or press Restart to focus the input.
• Start typing. The timer begins with your first character.
• Correct characters turn white, mistakes turn red.
• After sixty seconds you get WPM, accuracy and your best score.

Tips & strategy

Typing speed is mostly rhythm. The fastest typists are not moving their fingers faster — they are making fewer corrections.

• Aim for accuracy first. A clean 60 WPM beats a 75 WPM run with constant backspacing.
• Look at the text, not the keyboard. Touch typing is the single biggest speed upgrade.
• Keep a steady pace instead of sprinting through familiar words and stalling on long ones.
• Relax your wrists and keep your fingers close to the home row.
• If you make a mistake, decide quickly whether to fix it — hesitating costs more than the error.
• Practice the words you actually mistype. Most people repeat the same five or six patterns.
