Whack-a-Mole is the purest reaction test on the arcade floor: moles pop out of holes at random, stay up for a moment, then vanish. Hit as many as you can before the timer runs out.
The game punishes predictability. Moles appear in unpredictable patterns, and a few decoys make you hesitate — hesitate too long and the run is gone.
A sixty-second burst that is easy to replay and hard to put down.
How to play Whack-a-Mole
- Moles pop out of the nine holes for a short time.
- Click or tap a mole to score a point.
- You have 60 seconds — score as many hits as possible.
- Missing a mole costs nothing but time; the clock is the real opponent.
Tips & strategy
Whack-a-Mole is reaction speed with a spatial component. The best scores come from minimising cursor travel rather than clicking faster.
- Park your cursor near the centre hole between targets; it is the shortest average distance to all nine holes.
- React to movement at the edge of the hole, not the mole's face — the pop starts before the sprite is fully visible.
- Do not spam clicks. Every miss costs the fraction of a second you need for the next mole.
- Prioritise moles that are already rising and about to duck; ignore ones that just appeared.
- Use peripheral vision. Staring at one hole guarantees you miss the other eight.
- In the final ten seconds, favour the centre holes — they are quicker to reach and usually stay up long enough.
