Astray is a 3D maze runner rendered in WebGL. You control a marble, tilt it through procedurally built corridors and hunt for the exit — but the maze is not just walls. Ramps, pits and moving obstacles turn every corner into a small physics problem.
The lighting does most of the storytelling: dark corridors, coloured emergency lights, and a minimap that slowly reveals the route you have already survived.
A slower, more atmospheric pick than the arcade titles — best played with a keyboard and a few minutes of patience.
How to play Astray
- Move the marble with the arrow keys or W A S D.
- Find the glowing exit at the end of the maze.
- Use the minimap in the corner to track corridors you have already explored.
- Collect keys and avoid dead ends when the timer is tight.
Tips & strategy
Astray is a maze game with physics. The marble keeps momentum, so the fastest route is usually the smoothest one, not the one with the most turns.
- Use the minimap to spot dead ends before you commit to a corridor; retracing costs more time than a deliberate route.
- Ease off before corners. The marble slides, and clipping a wall kills more speed than a wide, smooth turn.
- Hug one wall consistently — it turns exploration into a system instead of a series of guesses.
- Approach ramps head-on; hitting them at an angle sends you into the side rails.
- Remember landmarks such as coloured lights and floor patterns so you can tell corridors apart.
- The exit is rarely next to the spawn. Explore outward in a loop rather than wandering randomly.
