Tetris

This is a faithful, lightweight take on the game almost everyone already knows how to play: seven tetromino shapes fall one at a time, and you rotate and position each so that completed rows disappear.

The skill ceiling is in the planning. Experienced players keep a single column open for the long I-piece, avoid covering holes, and speed up deliberately rather than reacting to whatever the randomizer hands them.

No installs, no accounts — just the pure loop of stacking and clearing.

How to play Tetris

• Pieces fall from the top of the board. Move them left or right as they drop.
• Rotate pieces to fit gaps and keep the stack flat.
• Complete a full horizontal row to clear it and earn points.
• The game speeds up as your level rises. It ends when new pieces can no longer enter.

Tips & strategy

Tetris is a planning game disguised as a reflex game. The pieces are random, but the surface you leave behind is entirely your choice.

• Keep the stack flat. One hole under a block can survive for dozens of pieces and eventually ends the run.
• Reserve one column, usually the right edge, for the long I-piece and build toward a four-line clear.
• Rotate before you drop, not while the piece is falling; last-second spins are where misplacements happen.
• Use soft drop to place pieces precisely instead of hard-dropping and hoping the column is right.
• Sometimes it is correct to leave a line uncleared — if clearing it produces a jagged surface, stack one more piece first.
• Learn each tetromino's rotation states so you can see the fit before the piece reaches the bottom.
