Best on desktop with a keyboard and mouse. MIT-licensed · source linked below

Duck Hunt revives the NES light-gun ritual: ducks launch from the grass, you track them with the cursor and fire before they fly off-screen. Miss too many and the round is over.

This build keeps the pixel art and the barking dog, and replaces the plastic gun with your mouse. Accuracy matters more than speed — a wild shot costs you a shell and a few precious frames.

A short, nostalgic arcade loop that plays well on desktop.

How to play Duck Hunt

  • Ducks launch from the bottom of the screen and fly across the sky.
  • Move your cursor to aim and click to fire.
  • You have limited shells per round — make each shot count.
  • Miss too many ducks and the round ends.

Tips & strategy

Duck Hunt rewards target discipline. You have limited shells and a short window, so the goal is one clean shot rather than three rushed ones.

  • Lead the duck slightly — shots register where the cursor is at the moment you click.
  • Prioritise slow, low ducks first; they are easier to hit and stop you wasting shells on distant targets.
  • Track one duck at a time. Switching targets mid-flight usually means missing both.
  • Aim at the body, not the wing tip; the hit area is more forgiving in the centre.
  • Use the reload pause to reposition your cursor for the next duck instead of holding it in place.
  • If a duck is about to leave the screen, let it go — a low-probability shot costs a shell you may need later.
