Pong is the game that started the arcade era: two paddles, one ball, and a scoreboard. This version keeps the rules untouched and wraps them in a neon glow that makes every rally readable at a glance.

The CPU is not perfect, but it learns your angles. Hitting with the edge of the paddle sends the ball away sharply, while the centre gives a flatter, more predictable return. The ball speeds up with every paddle hit, so long rallies turn into a test of nerve.

First to seven wins. Matches last a couple of minutes, which makes it a good warm-up or a quick break.

How to play Neon Pong

  • Move your paddle with the mouse, touch drag, or the up and down arrow keys.
  • Return the ball before it passes the left edge of the court.
  • Hit with the paddle edge to change the angle; the centre returns a flatter shot.
  • First player to seven points wins the match.

Tips & strategy

Pong is angle control. The paddle is not just a wall — it is the only thing that decides where the ball goes next.

  • Aim with the paddle edge, not the centre. Edge hits create sharp angles the CPU has to travel further to reach.
  • Return the ball deep rather than flat. A steeper angle buys you time to recover to the middle.
  • Stay near the centre between shots. Chasing the ball to the extreme edge leaves the other side open.
  • On long rallies, vary the return angle instead of repeating the same shot — the CPU adapts to patterns.
  • Use the serve to set the tempo: a soft serve gives you a read on the CPU's return before the rally speeds up.
  • When the ball accelerates past ten, prioritise getting it back over placement. Survival first, angles second.
