Word Guess is the five-letter deduction game everyone has played in some form: six rows, five tiles, and a colour code that tells you how close each letter is.
Green means the letter is correct and in the right position. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different position. Grey means the letter does not appear at all. Duplicate letters are handled properly, so a single yellow does not mean the letter appears twice.
Every guess must be a real five-letter word from the built-in list, which prevents random letter spam. The keyboard tracks which letters you have already ruled out.
How to play Word Guess
- Type a five-letter word and press Enter, or use the on-screen keyboard.
- Green: right letter, right position. Yellow: right letter, wrong position. Grey: not in the word.
- You have six guesses to find the word.
- The keyboard colours show the best result you have had for each letter.
Tips & strategy
Word Guess is information management. The first guess is not about winning; it is about eliminating letters.
- Open with a word that covers common letters — A, E, I, O, R, S and T are good starting points.
- Do not repeat a yellow letter in the same position; move it before trying it again.
- Use your second guess to test new letters rather than rearranging the first guess.
- Track duplicate letters carefully: one yellow E does not prove there are two Es.
- When you have four greens, think about common endings (-IGHT, -OUND, -ATCH) before guessing.
- Save your sixth guess for a word you are confident about; a wild guess rarely helps.
